The Winding Road: From Physical Therapy to Real Estate

Bianca Baca

Learn about my career story and why I got my real estate license!

Hello readers,

Today, I want to share with you my unique career journey—a tale that traverses multiple industries and continents before culminating in my current role as a real estate agent in San Francisco. Feel free to watch below or read on for the synopsis!

Early Beginnings and a Shift in Direction

It all started at San Diego State University, where I pursued a degree in physical therapy. While I loved my studies and internships—from working in clinics to a low-income clinic—it was a study abroad program in Europe that truly expanded my horizons. This trip didn’t just change my geographic perspective; it shifted my career aspirations dramatically.

Embracing Creativity and Entrepreneurship

Upon returning, I found myself burnt out from academics and unsure about continuing to a doctoral program. Instead, I ventured into the creative world, starting a fashion column and gradually moving into fashion styling and photography. This new path was invigorating. Collaborating with my now-husband, we dived into the entrepreneurial world, setting up photo shoots and embracing the artistic side of fashion.

Transition to Corporate and the Move to Real Estate

My career took another turn when I entered the corporate world, managing retail operations and eventually being promoted to oversee significant retail initiatives. However, it was during the COVID-19 pandemic that I found the opportunity to reassess my goals and ambitions. With the world on pause, I completed my real estate license—an endeavor inspired by family members already in the field.

Today’s Real Estate World

Now, as a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker, I bring all my past experiences—from people management to creative marketing—to provide a unique and effective service to my clients. My journey shows that it’s never too late to change paths and that every experience can enrich your abilities in unexpected ways.
